Why high contrast cards?
Newborn babies are only able to see objects at a close distance between 20-30cm. Due to their immature retinas, they initially can only distinguish between light and dark and are distracted by large shapes/objects and bright colours. As their retinas develop over the next few weeks, so does their vision. By 2-3 months a baby is able to focus and start to follow objects.
High contrast cards help to stimulate the retina and helps your baby in the following ways:
Supports cognitive development
Improves focus and attention span
Encourages visual tracking
Calming effect
Aids depth perception
